Easter Egg Bunny Pattern

Good Morning from the big, beautiful state of Texas.  Last night we had to train my awesome dog Gravity (I'm a physics teacher, have another dog named Zero....get it....nothing like yelling out the door "Zero, Gravity", when calling them inside).  But I digress.  So "G" has taken up the bad habit of playing keep away with the yarn (jealous perhaps of my habit).  We are letting him know in the picture that we "own" the yarn.  And here he is in his adorable majesty being a very good boy by leaving the yarn alone.  Now I need to find my lint roller.

So Spring is here in Texas, the blue bonnets are almost in bloom, and here is Easter Egg Bunny pattern.  Happy Saturday everyone.

Confessions of a Create-a-holic

Peace, Love, and Crochet!  to you from Part Pixy.  There's been a lot of "love" and "crochet", but not much peace these past few months as my husband's new job has taken him out of town, and after my "alter ego science-teacher-gig", I land comfortably on the couch with Netflix cued and surrounded myself with  yarn bags... ready to create.

The elusive peace, while ultimately a gift from God for everyone to simply remember and receive...well, you see, I haven't been doing much "being" lately.  A great deal of doing, searching for trends, seeing what customers might be interested in, and forgetting that my unique niche is mine, and not to be copied from someone else.  And remember, YOUR unique niche is your STYLE.  Sure, I love searching color combinations and fashion trends, but only I....and only YOU....can add that magic, God-inspired touch that makes an item uniquely yours.

Skinny Summer Scarf Free Pattern

Skinny Summer Scarf:
Materials:
about 80 yards of tilli tomas "Flurries" yarn (100% Australian-merino wool w/ glass beads) -or- a sport weight or fingering yarn with beads carried along on a string
(you may use any yarn you fancy that is sport or worsted weight, however)

Size H hook

Row 1:  Chain 221, sc in 21st ch from hook (this creates a yarn loop "fringe" at the end), ch 2, sc in same ch, *ch 10, sk 9 sts, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next ch* to end, ch 20.  Working along opposite side of ch, (sc ch 2, sc) in first ch, then repeat from * to end.

Row 2:  ch 20, turn, being careful not to twist scarf, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch 2 sp.  *Ch 10, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next ch 2 sp*.  Repeat to end.  Ch 20, sl st in last sc.  End off.

Playtime Sampler Sweater

Good morning from my favorite vacation spot, my home state of Michigan.  As the sweltering heat of sub-tropical Houston, approaches in late April, I always long for the mild summers of Michigan for my summer break.

Been buddying up to Pinterest lately; Russian and Japanese crochet designers have been my inspiration for the Playtime Sampler Sweater.

Aquamarine Ballet Tie Pattern Errata/ Suggestion

Finishing:  To keep the lower lapels overlapped, place a button on the opposite, inside lower front of the lower tie to hold the overlapped lapels in place.  Use the filet crochet as the button hole.

Crochet Superheroes

Let's hear it for moms and grandmoms all over the world who lovingly pass down the art of needlework to future generations.

My mom sat me on her knee at 8 years old and wouldn't let me get up until I learned the basics of crochet.  This art I've carried with me for many years now, and passed it along to others.  Its started friendships, sparked conversations with random people at stores, and touched lives of people who I may never meet as handmade creations donated to the less fortunate.

I guess I crochet with a vengeance as my husband says I have an intense look on my face whenever a hook is in my hand.  There's many great organization where a little handmade item will go a long way to show someone cares.

My Yarn Talks to Me

So, in my last post I featured this *delicious* Bonbon Lion Brand Yarn.  Some people hear from the dead....me?  My yarn talks to me.  This yarn said "flowers", so I made flowers.  Then I tried to add said flowers to a tank top pattern, a baby sweater, and a shrug.  I kept hearing "scarf", but resisted the call of the yarn.  Many hours of taking out, rearranging, and re-crocheting (yes, I like to make up words, don't judge :) and finally I relented to the yarn's whim and.....viola!  A scarf.  The yarn's always right!

But I have no idea why this picture is sideways :/  Kinda like me!  Ta-ta for now, Kim

Yarn Candy

I'm on my summer hiatus to Michigan, a much needed respite from the brutal heat of Texas.  At the local yarn store (JoAnn Etc), picked up Lion Brand's Bonbons package--- a pricey (but yes, I still bought it), little bundle of yarn in mini sized skeins.  

I'll let the yarn tell me what it wants to be :)
