Houston, We have a website!

Part Pixy Crochet is a go.

Has this been much of a summer break for me?  I might be ready to return to teaching chemistry after learning how to write and create my new website.  Here it is:  http://partpixycrochet.com/

Playtime Sampler Sweater

Good morning from my favorite vacation spot, my home state of Michigan.  As the sweltering heat of sub-tropical Houston, approaches in late April, I always long for the mild summers of Michigan for my summer break.

Been buddying up to Pinterest lately; Russian and Japanese crochet designers have been my inspiration for the Playtime Sampler Sweater.

First, I found the tulip pattern at this lovely designer's blog:  http://hakenenmeer.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/inspiratie.html

Then, Mandala patterns caught my eye from http://www.liveinternet.ru/users/ruchiyk/post266786596/

Thus, the Playtime Sampler Sweater was created.  Playtime Sampler Sweater

Crochet Superheroes

Let's hear it for moms and grandmoms all over the world who lovingly pass down the art of needlework to future generations.

My mom sat me on her knee at 8 years old and wouldn't let me get up until I learned the basics of crochet.  This art I've carried with me for many years now, and passed it along to others.  Its started friendships, sparked conversations with random people at stores, and touched lives of people who I may never meet as handmade creations donated to the less fortunate.

I guess I crochet with a vengeance as my husband says I have an intense look on my face whenever a hook is in my hand.  There's many great organization where a little handmade item will go a long way to show someone cares.

Here's a compiled list of some organizations:

Coastal Cardi For All Sizes

This shrug fits and flatters everyone. It is a shrug style, meaning it gently flows away from the body skimming the front with a graceful shawl collar.

The 3/4 sleeves may be lengthened or shortened according to your preferences. Fit is according to your measurements and easy to adjust.

Modular style means minimal piecing and seams.

Lacey effect is acheived with a size N hook and works up quickly.

Written pattern is for intermediate skills.

Imagine this as your go-to layering piece as the weather changes, topping a tee shirt and jeans or your favorite party dress. Also works well with business casual attire.
